  • Forge de Laguiole : Forge de Laguiole is widely known in the cutlery world, as the reference of Laguiole style knives. Each fine knife is a handcrafted piece of art. The company has received the prestigious EPV label, (French Living Heritage). Laguiole is a small town in South Central France and the birth place of the world's finest folding knives. Knives in the Laguiole style were first produced commercially by Pierre-Jean Calmels in 1829. Corkscrews were added in about 1880, when the distribution of french wine in bottles, rather than barrels, became popular. Forge de Laguiole opened its doors in 1987. It was the culmination of a dream by a group of passionate visionaries dedicated to reintroducing the manufacture of this famous knife in its birth town: Laguiole! From the outset, Forge de Laguiole has worked to develop its manufacturing skills with respect for traditional know- how. Initially created for a local use, this famous knife has now become a cult object and a design benchmark. The steel used in the blades, T12 Steel was developed specifically for Forge de Laguiole and combines durability, rust resistance and ease of sharpening.Customized items and special orders are available upon request.
