Brochier Soieries

Nude in the bath c.1925

This scarf doesn't show a nude silhouette, but reproduces a mix of colours from the background of this painting.

It is a marvelous example of Bonnard's love for contrasting colors.

The chiffon silk emphasizes the beauty of the color gradient, from pale blue to orange.

French painter and printmaker Pierre Bonnard (1867–1947) was a founding member of the Post-Impressionist group of avant-garde painters Les Nabis, a group of young artists committed to creating work of symbolic and spiritual nature, and as such is considered one of the defining figures of modernism in the transitional period between Impressionism and abstraction.

Bonnard preferred to paint from memo and always played with the relationship between warm and cold colors.

When he was 26, Bonnard met Marthe who soon became his favourite model.

Nude in the Bath is the most famous of the five depictions of Marthe in her bathtub.
