Eugène Boudin (1824 - 1898 ) was one of the first French painters to paint outdoors. He toured Europe in a constantly renewed quest for light.

Monet considered Boudin as his Master and precursor of Impressionism.

For the first time since 1899, from March to July 22 2013, a Parisian institution Musée Jacquemard - André, organizes a retrospective exhibition of paintings, pastels and watercolours from Boudin .
